Agile Design has defined back-to-school, designing the furniture that students and teachers need and expect when they get back into the classroom. This is one of the projects we have been working on since April, analyzing situations, regulations, trends and, of course, people’s needs, who need to be our focus at all times.
In this regard, our Agile Design approach has given us the vision, the agility and the methodologies we need to approach this time of change from a perspective that proposes different temporary scenarios.
At first, we apply our Design Research solutions to identify the products that will be necessary as of September, always preserving the general principles of social distancing, maintenance and cleaning/adaptation of the space.
In addition to the products, it will be essential to determine in which spaces and how these products will be used for the school sector, combining study areas and individual furniture with safe teamwork areas. The study spaces at home also take on greater significance, according to the criteria of comfort and concentration.
Our global vision of trends, markets and sectors, together with our experience in Product Design for the educational sector, has resulted in a process of redefinition and redesign of the FG catalogue, one of the industrial manufacturers we have worked with closely for many years. A process that has brought about innovations and improvements for this upcoming school year, and that has opened the door to innovation and the development of new advanced materials that guarantee hygiene.
Thus, panels have been designed that specifically fit the characteristics and dimensions of the FG desks approved by the Ministry of Education, which are one of the flagship products of the furniture brand for school spaces.
Likewise, the Actiflex tables have been created with new silhouettes to generate a variety of layouts that favor safety and social distancing, while allowing for the communication that teamwork requires. The tables also incorporate a flexible construction system with a high-strength aluminum injection piece, compatible with metal, aluminum and wooden legs. Tables with regular, asymmetric and complementary table tops that bring versatility to the classroom.
In the case of the Pad Chair, the design system of the chair’s arm has been designed to maximize stability and support, thanks to an aluminum injection piece, with safety rails that prevent it from getting jammed. This technical innovation provides the strength of a desk, but while preserving mobility. The ergonomics of sitting has been redefined for enhanced comfort.
